Adding a header to Brittle

Hi,

I'm trying to get a header onto Brittle over at slashing_jane. I tried it using the #canvas tag(?) but when it was centered it was out of alignment with the body and when I put it to the left I couldn't work out how to move it in until it lined up. Also I want a background image for the page but I'm not sure how to do both.

I know nothing about CSS so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yep. To be precise this image

Right now you have the header set thus: #header { display: none; }

Put your header image in that, and then use the margins to align it where you want it over the journal content.

As far as the page background image, you need to put it in: body {background: transparent url(YOUR IMAGE) repeat top left; }.

However, you can use the wizard to apply the background image.

You can insert "center", "left", "top", etc., like this

#header {
background: url(url here) center left no-repeat;
height: px;
}

Only if you want to see how it will be placed or experiment a little.

OK. How do I apply that? Where? I tried putting it in the custom css box (which is where I put the #canvas thing earlier) but nothing is showing up on the comm itself. *is clueless*

That is really strange. I checked the height that you put in and that should be enough. Hmm.

Try taking out "center" and "left" and add width: 700px to that.

If not, then I have no idea but I hope someone can help you more with it.

The #header is hidden in Brittle, to bring it back you have to add 'display: block;' as well.

}
