This is my layout  visualwit.dreamwidth.org/10124.html by visualwit

Is it possible to add things to the sidebar? I want to add a feedjit

http://feedjit.com/freeLiveTrafficFeed/#getOther

but I can't seem to add it in. I tried to follow their instructions but it didn't work:

1. You are going to install Feedjit in your blog's sidebar so that it loads on every page. To do this you need to edit your blog template. Read your blog host's documentation on how to edit your sidebar template.
2. When you are ready, sign-in to your blog and edit the template for your blog side-bar.
3. Look at the structure of the other elements in your side-bar. Often they will be contained in
  •
or tags.
4. Create a new pair of container elements in your blog's sidebar HTML e.g.
  •
and paste the code above between those elements.
5. Save your blog's sidebar template, hit your blog home page and you should see Feedjit appear in your side-bar.

Back to customization

I tired adding it to the text module and that didn't work either.

Can you help me please?

Could I add a photo or gif into the side bar? How can I do this?

Thanks

You can't put java or javascript in your sidebar. Is the widget java or javascript based?

Photos or gifs can be added to the custom text module (see my journal for an example) (look under "Text" in "Customize Your Theme"). Just add as many images as you'd like. Let me know if you need more assistance than that.

Yes, I do have Transmogrified, which is why I thought I might be able to help. I asked here at one point why this style only has one space for Custom Text, and I think the consensus was that at some point all styles might have multiple Custom Text boxes. However, in the meantime, this is my workaround (which I was pretty happy to figure out).

This is exactly what I have pasted in the box that is labeled: "Text for the Custom Text Box"

So make sure you are not putting your images in the URL box, but in the text box. This formatting for the images < img src="url" /> seems to work just fine.
