Navlinks Issue With Custom Override

So I'm trying to add the Previous/Next links to my Navlinks Module using a code that was previously posted here, but I'm having issues with the Previous link showing up regardless of whether or not there's previous entries (I'm testing on this journal with public entries for reference).

The code I'm using in my theme layer is this:

What type of page are you looking on? As it's written, I think it'll always print both links if you're on a single entry, or viewing by day, but should only print available ones when you're viewing the main journal or viewing by month.

I was looking at the main journal pages. But I no longer have this code applied to this journal.
