Attempting to Borrow a Layout

Hello everyone :-] Look, I feel really sorry linking the journal of a stranger who presumably haven't used their journal in over a decade, but I never really used LJ and don't know anything about how it works besides what you see as a logged-out user. Does anyone know the name of this layout, which I see a lot, and is there a way I can repurpose it for DW? I think it's really cute, and if I just play with the CSS a little I could make it even better (according to my tastes).

That's Generator, and I went to a lot of pains to try and find its equivalent over here. The closest I've been able to find is Monster for the Brittle theme. Just mess around with the colors until you get something you like, or use your own images. There was a hack to try and get Generator to work over here, but I could never get the icons to load on the Reading page.

EDIT: And yeah, the fantastic thing about Generator is how versatile it was. You could really get it to produce all sorts of different looks, you could locate the actual entry section to the left, right, or center, which a lot of people used to great effect with their own background images. It was easily customizable with CSS. I'm shocked that no one ever managed to port it over here for real.

Probably because of the combination of the base layouts here being really flexible when it comes to CSS, and the fact that while the code for Generator is floating out there on the internet, I am like 90% sure it was not open source, which means it would only ever be unofficial (and also working with core1 S2 code kind of sucks)

I've seen that layout before, and didn't recognize it as the one I wanted because of the sticky 😭 Thank you for catching that!! I've always admired the layouts you use on your account and communities too ^_^

omg thank you, you're sweet!!! I'm planning on eventually releasing some on my graphics journal, it's just been a slow process.....I can understand my own code, but it's too much of a mess to share with the world XD

The other day when I was looking for a new layout I came across one by you that you've deleted/privated, probably because it makes you cringe severely now. But I was so desperate for it I looked for it on web.archive.org, and it wasn't there either lolllll (Don't worry, I've moved on now!)

Ohh! What layout was it, just out of curiosity? Hahaha I privated my DW layouts years ago because I stopped making them and could not offer assistance with them. But if you want or need anything you saw from me, just tell me.

It was the one with Alucard as the header. It's sooooo beautiful I nearly wanted to use it unchanged 😩
