Hi!
I joined DW when it was closed beta and used an imported core 1 style: Mixit, Linus and Lucy - for
sg1genrecs. I've had various tweakings done on the layout (with help!) and I really don't want to change it.
On the other hand, I very much would like to change the tag list to multilevel - for a rec comm with so many different tags, a multilevel would make it much easier for people to find what they're looking for.
Does anyone know if it's possible to add the multilevel tag option to a core 1 style? And if so, could you please hold my hand and walk me very slowly through it? :)
Thanks!

Date: 2009-12-21 09:22 pm (UTC)Yes, it's probably possible, to take the multilevel code from core2.s2:
http://hg.dwscoalition.org/dw-free/file/tip/bin/upgrading/s2layers/core2.s2
And fiddle with it until it fits into your theme layer. It might take a bunch of tweaking, however, and would probably demand a decent working knowledge of S2 to achieve. Unfortunately, I'm too busy too attempt such a thing! Also, in order to get somebody to help, you're also probably going to have to give them access to your imported S2 layers.

Date: 2009-12-21 09:30 pm (UTC)Is there some way, short of creating a separate journal for the purpose, to preview changes before applying them when I'm trying to tweak?

Then, make a style that has the layers you will be working with:
http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/advanced/styles
And you can view things in the style you're working on without applying it by clicking on the number link after each style's name, instead of clicking "Use" which will apply the style to your journal.
