Skip 20 issues

I'm not sure if this is the place for this question, but I have a problem with the "skip 20" link. When I click on it, there are no previous entries on my reading page. The sidebar is there, header and footer too, but there are no entries. How is that possible and what can I do to fix it? I'm in no way an expert, but I can follow instructions.

This is a perfectly good place for it. Now, what browser are you using? I'm using previous on your journal and it is working fine for me, so that's a good place to start. Another experiment might be to log out and see if it works then.

I'm using Flock, based on Firefox (which wreaks havoc with my system for some unknown reason). I just checked it in Internet Explorer, and the only post I see when I click on the Previous 20 is the Simms 3 community post from dw_community_promo. Same thing in Opera. All browsers are the latest versions. The same lack of entries on my reading page happens when I log out.

Is Dreamwidth maybe set to only skip 20? Because on LJ I can continue going back? Or maybe the reason is simply that I haven't accumulated enough comms and journals to show up on my reading page for more than one page? (I wonder if reducing the number of posts shown would make a difference? Off to find out!)

I think that's it--reading pages (and friends pages on LJ) only go back 2 weeks or 1000 posts as their max.

However, I wonder if we already have a bug filed for you style showing "previous" when there ISN'T any previous. I am also wondering why your style has two next links on the empty previous page!

Yep - just changed the number of shown posts from 20 to 10 and was able to go back three pages.

Honestly, I don't know. Maybe that's why I got confused, because I saw the link and was expecting to see some entries after clicking on it. I found this particular customization via a search. Layout credit was already included, and though I know the maker's active here, for the life of me I can't remember the username. Perhaps there's something in the CSS? I didn't make any change to layers.

Huh! Looks like there is already a bug for that issue:

And it's a codemerge bug, so I will try to look into it this weekend and fix it for you, okay?

It is a pretty easy bug and right now there's a bit of a drive to get down the number of "things to do" on the dev side of things!
