changing "no subject" to, well, a subject

after an embarrassingly long time, i finally figured out how to turn on the option to display replacement text when there's no subject for an entry. however! i swear there used to be a field on the 'text' page in the customise area where you could put custom text to replace the standard "(no subject)". or maybe that was lj and we never had it here?

thanks to fu, i know how to make it disappear as if by magic, which would be my second choice. but ideally i would like to be able to have something visible that's not "no subject" when there's no subject. is there a magic for that? is there yet another ticky box i have resolutely failed to see over and over again?

This is not a visible option (and don't think it ever was unless maybe on custom styles): set text_nosubject = "(no subject)";

So it can only be set via layers.

thank you! although i'm sorry to say that i don't understand anything you just said. so i will go ahead and do the make-invisible magic.

also i found the setting on lj so i'm not going mad, which is reassuring.

This means that, unlike the code given by Fu at http://style-system.dreamwidth.org/71499.html?thread=614219#cmt614219, it isn't an option in Customize or something you can add to Customize. I don't want to assume this is the kind of magic you meant but if you need further instructions, let me know! :)
