How do I make the navigation links(recent entries, tags, etc) be in the center of the header instead of on the right? I've been looking at the source code for my layout for a while now, and I can't figure it out. :(

Thanks if you can help!

Before I try to duplicate Classic as a custom layout on Dreamwidth, I figured I should check to see if it had already been done. The style search turns up nothing - is it here under another name?

If I do need to create it myself, are this tutorial and addendum all I need to accomplish that task?

Hello everyone,

I am currently using the "Nevermore" theme, based on "Funky Circles", and I have a few questions.

Here's what I would like to do: I have added a header via the "customize" boxes, but my header refuses to budge from the upper right hand corner.

Also, my background doesn't start till after the bottom of the header, so obviously I need to add the header in the code itself, and not to the customization boxes. But I have no idea how to get in to the guts of my theme. Not a clue where to look for it.

When I look under my layers, I see the customizations made via the wizard, and also the previous layout that I originally installed. When I click on custom css, I get a blank box. When I click on customize, I just go back to the wizard area. HOW do I find the code for my current style? I'm sure this is something totally obvious, and I'm just being thick, but I'm beating my head against the wall at this point, lol.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give a clueless DW newb!

Hi all!

I'm a recent LJ refugee, and I'm hoping for some help in fixing my layout.

I was able to port the layout I'm currently using in my LJ, [livejournal.com profile] betterdazed, which is based on Flexible Squares. However in LJ, the post subjects in my Recent Entries and Friends are permalinks. Right now in DW, the subjects are just texts.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this? Many thanks!

On behalf of the administrative team of this community (myself, [personal profile] afuna, and [personal profile] foxfirefey), I'd like to welcome all the new folks who've made Dreamwidth their home and are now tinkering with the siding and rearranging the landscape and ... well, let's not wear the analogy out, shall we? ;)

From what I'm seeing in the posts and the comments, I don't think I need to spend much time on points like "Be excellent to each other." I am as impressed as I always have been by how massively helpful people are to each other here, and equally impressed (again, as always) by the refreshingly undemanding tone of people's requests for assistance. I can only think of a couple very minor things to even talk about.

First, I know the tagging of entries in the comm is a bit of a shambles at the moment. Everybody has the ability to tag entries, and there's a bit of a pattern set by existing tags, so we could theoretically all chip in and keep the new entries tagged up. On the other hand, the tagging was thrown together in a few spare minutes and has been indifferently maintained at best (because I've largely been lazy about it), so I'd like to invite you all to suggest / discuss whether we need to rebuild the tag hierarchy from the ground up, and if so, how?

Second, and purely informative, you don't have to have a question to be on-topic. Posting neat little tricks you discover, or links to other people's style-squee, or even slashy fanfic about the private life of ->print_stylesheet(), these are all acceptable content.

But really, I just wanted to say how thrilled I am to see all this beautiful activity and huge tracts of not having to do anything adminny. I love you all! :)
