community theme

 hello, I'm having some trouble with my community theme and I'm trying to figure out if its a troubleshooting problem or something else.

ive started a community called mapmakerstrilogy for a book trilogy and I'm in the process of editing the  theme and adding background images. I was trying to change the theme to sand dunes by flatlanders but everytime i do it automatically applies it to my blog instead of the community. by all accounts my settings are correct and I'm working in the right community so I don't know why its doing this.

are there certain themes that are only allowed to be used for blogs and not communities or is this a troubleshooting issue? I've cleared my browser cache as far as the begining of the month and restarted and updated my computer. I don't know what else to do.

any advice is appreciated. thank you!

Apologies for asking but since you didn't specifically say that you are doing so, when you go to https://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/ does it say "Work as mapmakerstrilogy" in the dropdown box?

Whenever you go to work on a layout, it will default to your journal. You have to select your community from the drop-down up top.

I did that. but when I click on select theme, it automatically applies the theme to my journal instead. it will change to it on its own.

yes, and when I click select theme it applies to my journal instead. It will say mapmakerstrilogy current theme and when I click select it changes to my journal on its own.

Huh. That is really weird. I suppose it could be a bug. If nobody here suggests an answer, I'd put in a support request.

This is a Known Bug, and a fix will hopefully be out everywhere soon-ish. For now, if you turn on canary in the beta features, you should get the version of the site we use for testing changes (including this fix). Once you've applied the style, you can turn canary off again!

Hmm, and you for-sure had the little blue banner in the corner of the page that says 'canary' when you tried it?

yes, I forgot to edit my post but I got a reply from my request 2 days ago that said it's a problem with the page's code that they were working on. but canary mode didn't work for me.
