Tried it again; still works perfectly for me. Which browser are you using (Firefox, I assume, since you have Firebug, but which version?)? I'm using 3.6.13 - don't know if that makes any difference...

Just to be clear, the colors are only applying to your IP notice styling. If you want to toss the quote CSS you can still keep the IP (span.de) CSS; one won't affect the other.
