On behalf of the administrative team of this community (myself,
afuna, and
foxfirefey), I'd like to welcome all the new folks who've made Dreamwidth their home and are now tinkering with the siding and rearranging the landscape and ... well, let's not wear the analogy out, shall we? ;)
From what I'm seeing in the posts and the comments, I don't think I need to spend much time on points like "Be excellent to each other." I am as impressed as I always have been by how massively helpful people are to each other here, and equally impressed (again, as always) by the refreshingly undemanding tone of people's requests for assistance. I can only think of a couple very minor things to even talk about.
First, I know the tagging of entries in the comm is a bit of a shambles at the moment. Everybody has the ability to tag entries, and there's a bit of a pattern set by existing tags, so we could theoretically all chip in and keep the new entries tagged up. On the other hand, the tagging was thrown together in a few spare minutes and has been indifferently maintained at best (because I've largely been lazy about it), so I'd like to invite you all to suggest / discuss whether we need to rebuild the tag hierarchy from the ground up, and if so, how?
Second, and purely informative, you don't have to have a question to be on-topic. Posting neat little tricks you discover, or links to other people's style-squee, or even slashy fanfic about the private life of ->print_stylesheet(), these are all acceptable content.
But really, I just wanted to say how thrilled I am to see all this beautiful activity and huge tracts of not having to do anything adminny. I love you all! :)

Date: 2010-09-11 08:04 am (UTC)We can only tag entries with existing tags, not create new ones. And the existing tags are, for the most part, so generic that it's difficult to know which ones we should use. So, yes, I suggest rebuilding the hierarchy from the ground up. I've always found the tag structure used over at
I also like the idea of showcasing/discussing layouts we like and posting stories about the adventures and private life of ->print_stylesheet() & Co. :)
