Transmogrified - Sticky/Welcome post

Once upon a time, way back on LJ, there was a way to put a permanent welcome/sticky post on Transmogrified. It has been years since I've tried working with this style, and any links/mems/info I had on how to do that have been lost to the sands of time. I tried porting an old layout layer, but the headaches induced by that made it not worth the effort.

Does anyone know if it's possible and/or how to code a sticky post into Transmogrified with DW's core? I'd rather not have to port any LJ styles, and I'm not comfortable enough with layout/theme layers to write the code myself, but I can c/p or modify for my needs if I have the pieces.

At the moment there isn't an official way of doing this but you can do something like it with the custom text module. If you turn on the custom text module and set it to 'header' rather than sidebar you can then use this to do your welcome post. You can't do comment links on it, but you can add a url to the title which can link to somewhere to add comments.

It doesn't look very nice at the moment (see my journal), but there's no reason you couldn't use css to make it look like the other boxes. I can't play with the css at the moment, but I may well have a look at how to make this box look nice later in the week (I have visitors at the moment so don't really have the time).

Oh, so is it possible now to have a custom text module? Because the last time I looked there wasn't one. I would be interested in using it to place some links.

As for the sticky post, probably the easiest way is to set the date far enough in the future that the entry always stays at the top.

it is! go into customise > modules and select the ticky box for custom text and where you want it. save changes, then go to > text and expand the options menu. type, save and voila!
