Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am a total noob when it comes to styles. I am another LJ refugee *waves* and 'over there' I use a style called "Agent Orange". I have no idea whether it's S1 or S2 (don't even know what those are, TBH) or what other style it might be based on, but I'd like to replicate it on DW as best I can.

Can someone point me in the direction of a good, SIMPLE tutorial on how to do this? I found this one but it's all greek to me, I'm afraid: http://starlit.dreamwidth.org/272.html I've seen people referring to this as a "basic" tutorial so that kind of scares me! LOL But I'm determined to give this a go, if I can. I don't know where to find the coding for my LJ layout either.

Sorry to request such detailed hand-holding...if there's another comm for which this request is better suited, please feel free to direct me there.

Thanks in advance!

I just looked at Agent Orange from Livejournal, and it is a Three Column layout theme. Generally, Livejournal themes are imported as S1, but I haven't seen anyone use Three Column before. However, if you'd like to give it a shot - the raw source code is located here: http://www.livejournal.com/customize/advanced/layersource.bml?id=4472558 . There is a list of styles that Dreamwidth is free to use from Livejournal, located here in the wiki if you'd like to try something else.

So basically, you'd want to take the Three Column layout and use it along with the tutorial at [community profile] starlit.

The "Basic Boxes" layout might be a good choice here. You can see the color themes here. Parchment and Ink might be a close match. If not, you can change colors and fonts in the customization wizard for just about everything.

Almost every layout on DW can be set up to have three columns - at the bottom of that linked page, look at "Choose Your Page Setup". You can pick which sides your sidebars would go on, then further customization can let you pick what things (profile, calendar, link list, etc) go in which sidebars.

This may be just as Greek to you but I thought it was worth a shot. I see you're using 3column on LJ. 3column is the layout. Agent Orange would be the style. Because DW doesn't have the layout you need to import it, which is possible. (It's an S2 layout on LJ btw. On DW this is a Core 1 layout. ) Have a look at the other tutorial and if you're up for it give it a try and I'll help you if there are any problems.
