3) Yep, works, thanks again! I just changed the code a bit to have the icon on the right side. I think you can also use both solutions, i.e., you can have an icon for entries without userpic and an icon for feeds. You just need to add .no-userpic .userpic{} BEFORE .journal-type-y .userpic{}.
The contextual popup won't work here, of course, but that's not really a problem for me.
