Using Lj's Generator, ported via a tutorial, and need a little help.

Hello,

I've gone through a dozen or so themes since I first got on Dreamwidth back in 2009, before I realized that really, I just want Generator back. Yesterday I found the tutorial by [personal profile] toker on [community profile] dovewood and their tutorial here. I love it, it takes me right back to what I wanted, but for a few things:

- No icons in individual posts, including posts on my reading page.

- No usernames show on entries in the Reading page.

- The edit/edit tags/add to memories/notify buttons would be nice to show on indidual entries on the main page when I'm logged in (as opposed to individual entries when I'm looking at it from the permalink or comments pages.)

I left [personal profile] toker a comment on their tutorial entry, but I'd really like to find out how to fix these things myself. I know some basic HTML and CSS, however the things I'm seeing suggest that maybe Generator still isn't 100% compatible with DW. Failing that, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to design a layout which consists of a top title bar, entries in separate content boxes, and a bottom or footer bar, and the ability to have a background image behind it. Does this already exist, and I'm just missing it? I know about Abstractica, but the times I've tried it, it hasn't been too friendly on my mobile.

Thanks in advance!

I'll see if I can give you any easy answers on Generator later, but in terms of DW-native layouts, have you looked at Mobility? It doesn't have many pre-created themes but it sounds like you're comfortable using the wizard to design your own, and it was specifically designed to be mobile-friendly.

I guess you can do that by adding that bit of CSS in the customize wizard. I'll let someone else write it up for you because I don't want to mess it up, but just know that that can be easily done!
